What are the crosses called in the soles of boots?

I don't think they have a name, in most wholesale catalogues they refer to those types of soles as "lug treads" "lug soles" or simply "treaded soles" These are used on winter snow boots to provide traction on loose snow, ice, and hard packed snow.
