How to sell vehicle without being present in the US?

Friends, I will be out of US for next Three months or so. I need to sell my car. I have a friend here in the US who can sell it for fair price. How can I legally perform the transaction? Shall I give my original title to him with letter of authorization? Please reply. Thanks
